Apr 04, · This first installment of JS Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti, containing the 1st, 2nd and 3rd concerti, doesn’t feature any performances on the level of Pearlman’s 5th and 6th but it is an excellent disc which I probably rate higher than any of the other Brandenburg recordings I have in my collection, both those in traditional performance style and “historically informed” performances (as a HIP version, the Boston Baroque’s /5(9).
The title "The Brandenburg Concertos, Nos. 1, 2 & 3" appears on the spine of the sleeve. Not issued in stereo. The two LPs in the set were offered for sale individually - a rare (and possibly unique) occasion when this occurred: normally, double LPs were not sold individually by WRC in Australia, even if the two discs were housed in separate sleeves.
